Philharmonic South West Orchestra is a not for profit volunteer amateur orchestra based in Bunbury Western Australia. Our orchestra was established in 2009 and over the last 13 years we have grown and developed into a fully-fledged classical orchestra with 55 regular members.

We have a permanent professional conductor who challenges and inspires our orchestra to grow and develop.

Our orchestra performs regularly – at least four times a year, and we continuously expand our repertoire. There is also opportunity for small ensembles to play, not only at our own concerts, but also at a wide range of community events.

Our musician’s range in age from teenagers to seniors in their 80’s. They come as far afield as Margaret River, Bridgetown and Rockingham and we are certainly a multicultural organisation with members from many different countries and cultural backgrounds.

We are very proud of our instrument asset pool, which has a value of over $40,000 and is ever expanding, and our extensive music library.

Our aim has always been to foster the opportunity to play classical orchestral music and to introduce and expose communities around us to the extraordinary and magical world of classical music. For this reason, classical music education for young people as well as adults is an integral part of our vision. A great number of our members are music teachers at our local schools, and we are extremely proud of the scholarship program specifically aimed at adults with a yearning to learn a classical instrument but don’t know quite how to go about it. If that is you, please Enquire here for details.

Our orchestra runs on the strength of volunteers. There is so much to do and we can use all the help we can get. If you have a bit of spare time, skills and or knowledge that you think might be useful, please talk to any of our leadership team here. We would love to hear from you.

And in the end, even though playing is what we like to do best, our organisation needs funds. If you can donate to help our orchestra play, educate and share beautiful music with the people around us, please get in touch here.
