PSWO has always been a community orchestra and we pride ourselves on being open, inclusive, and accessible. Our aim is to provide our members with the opportunity to experience and learn what it is like to play (mostly) classical orchestral music.

We have at least four concerts each year, normally towards the end of each term. Our concerts are always varied in program, setting and venue. We have extremely experienced and passionate people who create new and challenging programs for every new concert.

We rehearse once a week on Monday nights during school terms with concerts scheduled towards the end of each term.

Most of our members are musicians, but we also have non-playing members, “Friends of the Orchestra” who play a vital role behind the scenes. They are the people who get things done while our playing members focus on making music and contributions without which our orchestra could not exist.

If you would like to join our orchestra as a playing member, please complete our application form (see below) and email it at gidday@philharmonicsouthwest.com. Please note that applications are subject to approval. Once approved, we will provide you with a comprehensive New Member Information booklet that will give you all the information you will need.
